Digital Entertainment, Mobile and Internet Law Year in Review

Presented by the Entertainment Law & Intellectual Property Section

This program will cover important new Internet law developments and legal trends affecting digital media and entertainment, including circuit splits and developments over the course of 2015 and into 2016. The program will be presented by Ian Ballon, an Internet litigator with Greenberg Traurig, LLP and author of E-Commerce and Internet Law: Legal Treatise with Forms 2d edition with transactional perspective to be provided by Tracey L. Freed, the principal of Freed Law, PC, formerly Assistant General Counsel at Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Adjunct Professor at Loyola Law School teaching “Digital Media & the Law."

This program is specifically designed to help in-house and outside counsel stay abreast of recent developments and key issues in Internet Law. The program will also help identify new issues to come in 2016 and beyond. The subjects will include:

• Sponsored links and online advertising in light of the Ninth Circuit's two 2015 opinions in MultiTime Machine
• The impact on copyright fair use of data mining, big data, and security breaches in light of new case law
• Trends in data privacy, security breach, and TCPA class action litigation
• Online and mobile contract formation
• Children and mobile devices
• The FCC's 2016 texting regulations and their impact on litigation
• DMCA, CDA, and Secondary Liability Update.
