This program is divided into two parts. The first hour will focus on substance abuse, particularly in the legal profession, and will fulfill one hour of Competence Issues CLE Credit.The second panel will address advanced issues of disability accommodation.

This program is divided into two parts. One panel will focus on substance abuse, particularly in the legal profession, and will fulfill one hour of Competence Issues CLE Credit.

The second panel will address advanced issues of disability accommodation, including:

  • Addiction and accommodating employees with addiction (alcohol, drug, sex addiction)
  • Use of medical marijuana for treatment of certain disabilities and/or cancer or cancer-related disabilities, and dealing with that in accommodating employees
  • Recreational versus medical marijuana use
  • Drug testing laws, rules, and regulations
  • Labor Code 432.7, 432.8
  • Employee rights to privacy vis-a-vis drug testing and medical information
  • Accommodating mental disabilities
  • How to broach the subject of a possible mental disability where the employee has not previously raised the issue
