You Can't Go Wrong! Ethics+Competence+Elimination of Bias

LACBA’s Immigration Section and the Southern California Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association are teaming up to create a continuing education program packed with information on Ethics, Elimination of Bias, and Competence.  Please join us for this timely and informative program.

Topics to be covered will include the proposed new rule on trust accounting, how to draft an effective fee agreement, the ethical boundaries of using asylum as a means of getting a client into court; and when/how you may run into ethical issues in the courtroom.  We will make available various templates and sample agreements you may adapt to your practice.

Attorneys Carole Buckner and Joel Osman, leading ethics experts, will share their insights, knowledge and scholarship on legal ethics, and update us on significant ethics opinions decided in the past year.  Attorney Mia Frances Yamamoto (formerly Michael F. Yamamoto), one of the most distinguished criminal defense attorneys in Southern California, will be an honored guest and speaker on the topic of Elimination of Bias.  She will join us to discuss practical topics including transgender records, status and identity, and issues of discrimination.  Annabel Raymond, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Southern California, will speak on competence, self-care and avoiding self-defeating and unhealthy behaviors.
