Transgender and Nonbinary Youth: Improving Legal Access for the Vulnerable

The Los Angeles Superior Court Access and Fairness Committee and the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee jointly present a two hour cultural sensitivity training on issues affecting transgender and nonbinary youth in the context of juvenile dependency proceedings.  The training will address implicit biases in serving the needs of gender non-conforming youth and will include a medical and psychological component that focuses on trauma and how such experiences can impact interactions in the courtroom.  Attendance will be limited to 50 persons.  Registration is open to the first 25 attorneys, and registration for judicial officers is being handled separately by the Court.
