As a large and growing number of senior partners are now retiring or thinking about it, they and their firms are grappling with many tough questions. What does retirement mean today, when few people give up work entirely? What is "retirement age," when people lead longer, healthier lives than ever? If you love what you do and are still good at it, why stop? And if you want to retire, what will you do and what are your options? If you expect to retire, what should you do to transition your clients and prepare the firm? What should you expect from the firm during and after your retirement transition? These are some of the vital questions we will address in this important and timely program.
Specific issues that will be discussed include:
• What does "retirement" mean for lawyers?
• What is the "right" age for lawyers to retire?
• What options - in and out of the workplace - are available to lawyers who want to retire?
• When and how should lawyers prepare their clients and the firm for their retirement?
• What can law firms do to anticipate, plan for and support partner retirement?
