30 Hr. Basic Mediation Training

This course introduces the core principles and methods of alternative dispute resolution. It provides a strong foundation in mediation skills through lecture, small group exercises, and role-playing. 26.75 hrs. of CLE credit including 2.75 hours of Ethics and 1 hour of Elimination of Bias.

Rich in both theory and practice, the training covers the nature of conflict, history of mediation, structure and management of the mediation process, intake and convening, mediation models, cultural awareness and diversity, legal requirements and ethics, maintaining neutrality, communication skills, negotiation, breaking impasse, closure and drafting agreements. Participants receive an overview of various practice settings. 

The 30 Hour Basic Mediation Training fulfills the training requirements of the California Dispute Resolution Programs Act.

Course will be held April 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 (2016) from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM daily. Walk-in registration begins Monday, April 4th at 8:30 AM.

  • If you enter the garage before 9 AM, a $10.00 early bird flat parking rate will apply. No validation is required.
  • If you enter the garage between 9 AM and 4:30 PM, parking is $2.25 each 15 minutes until the maximum daily rate ($27.00) is reached.

Advance registration (both online and via phone) closes for most programs approximately 12-24 hours before event time (in order to allow for operational considerations), we would still like to have you join us, and you are more than welcome to register on-site and attend, unless the program is specifically noted as SOLD OUT. Full refunds issued only for registrations which are cancelled 48 hours in advance.
