Introductory TAP

This is one in a series of courses offered by LACBA's acclaimed Trial Advocacy Project (TAP), where attorneys can get trial experience FAST.

Session Dates:  May 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26

Designed specifically for attorneys who have little or no trial experience, this six-evening course provides introductory trial advocacy instruction, emphasizing participant mock trial performance and constructive feedback. Receive instruction on basic trial skills and perform a jury trial.

Learn to mark exhibits, lay evidentiary foundation, deliver opening statements, conduct witness direct and cross exam, and deliver closing arguments.

Offered up to four times a year, this is a 3-week course. (This course is offered the first three full weeks in January, March, May and September). The times are 5:30-8:30 p.m. 16.5 CLE hrs, including 1 in ethics.

"Classes are taught at LACBA. Course intructors are seasoned trial attorneys. There are no prerequisites or interviews for course admission.”

Successful completion of this course meets the prerequisites for admission to our 5-week Traditional TAP course, taught annually in the fall. Completion and certification from Traditional TAP qualifies you for a pro bono practicum with a local prosecutorial agency trying criminal cases.

Written course materials will be distributed via e-mail prior to the first class. Please make sure we have your correct e-mail address at the time of registration. Enrollment is limited to 14 people per class. For questions on all three of our TAP courses, please review the information at www.lacba.org/TAP. For further questions, call (213) 896-6423.

This course fills quickly. We strongly urge you to register via phone or internet with a credit card. Registrations via check cannot be guaranteed admittance due to processing time. Cancellations cannot be accepted after April 19, 2016.
