Does an employee have the right to post personal political opinions on Facebook without fear of termination? Does the employer have the right to terminate if the employee's opinions are inconsistent with the employer's mission statement? We will discuss applicable law regarding the First Amendment right to free speech, legal off duty conduct, the right to engage in "concerted activity", the right to engage in political conduct, and the limits to all of those rights.
Special guest speaker Marina Kats Fraigun is a Plaintiff's employment attorney. She has been practicing for over 22 years. She has been selected as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Southern California in 2019, 2020, 2021 and Top 100 Lawyers in Southern California for the same years. She is an aggressive Plaintiff’s side employment attorney and has been called a "pit bull". Marina also teaches in the Paralegal Program at Los Angeles Valley College. In addition to being a passionate advocate and founder of Fraigun Law Group, Marina is happily married and is raising two teenage sons.
