The Ethical Ramifications of the Duty to Defend

The Ethical Ramifications of the Duty to Defend and the Tripartite Relationship
Program Date:
Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Program Description:
This program will examine an insurer's duty to defend, the tripartite relationship formed when an insurer retains counsel to represent its insured, and the duties of retained counsel.

Our distinguished speakers are John Hilbert and James Ham.  Mr. Hilbert is frequently retained by title insurers to represent their insureds in litigation.  Mr. Ham provides professional ethics advice to clients and as an expert, and is a Commissioner of the State Bar of California's second Rules Revision Commission.  Mr. Hilbert and Mr. Ham will discuss the ethical ramifications of sensitive situations that may arise in the course of the tripartite relationship. This program will be beneficial to outside counsel, in-house counsel, and attorneys of all experience levels.
