Presented by the Entertainment Law & Intellectual Property Section.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting civil authority directives and health-related shutdowns have affected the entertainment industry for the past year, resulting in extra expense to deal with virus exposures, governmental and industry compliance costs, and other potential losses. Numerous insurance issues will come into play as the industry returns to full production, beyond the typical production issues for which companies usually seek insurance coverage. The panel will discuss a variety of insurance issues—from notice issues to mediation and potential litigation, flowing from the pandemic. It will also cover common insurance claims that every entertainment company must face, including production interruptions, cast losses, extra expense, civil authority, imminent peril, and ways to deal with a variety of insurance implications.
