LASC Fast Track Personal Injury Bench Trial Program

Presented by the Litigation Section

Co-sponsored by the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles

Program Description

The Los Angeles Superior Court recently announced a fast track personal injury bench trial program. This Town Hall webinar will cover the many benefits of stipulating to the program, such as having a prompt trial date that will actually go on the date set for trial, allowing parties, counsel and witnesses to complete discovery and efficiently and fully prepare for a certain trial date, all while helping the Court with the pandemic backlog of personal injury cases, which will allow for faster jury trials once they fully resume.

Hear directly from all the stakeholders in personal injury: the Presiding Judge, the Civil Supervising Judge, a PI Hub Judge, Trial Judges, and experienced plaintiff and defense attorneys. The panelists will discuss the types of cases where this program will work particularly well, the mechanics of the bench trial, having the trial in person, remotely, or a hybrid, the use of confidential high-lows, and many other reasons to use this pilot program while it lasts - at a time when required social distancing may continue in courthouses. Whether you are a plaintiff or defense counsel, this presentation will inform you of everything you need to know to confidently participate in this exciting program.
